Cycle 8

Carving Pumpkins, Scarecrow Writing and the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin

Full Day Kindergarten--The students will be visiting http://www.abcya.com to Carve a Pumpkin.  We will talk about shapes and how to draw a variety of shapes as we carve our pumpkin.  When we are finished, we will add our name to the pumpkin--practicing the SHIFT key, and then we will print the pumpkin.

Second Grade--The students will be visiting the Highlights for Kids website and will be building a scarecrow.  After the students print their scarecrow, they will use Pixie to create a descriptive writing about their scarecrow.

First Grade--The students will be learning about pumpkins.  When should you plant a pumpkin seed?  What two things does a pumpkin seed need to grow into a pumpkin?  How long does it take a pumpkin seed to turn into a pumpkin?  What is the Life Cycle of a Pumpkin?  The students will be watching a Teacher Tube video on the life cycle of a pumpkin and will learn about each of the stages.  Using Pixie, the students will create the life cycle of a pumpkin.
